Harrisburg,
PA–David E. Beachy, P.E., PMP, has been named Director of
Civil
Engineering at GTS Technologies, Inc. (GTS). Mr. Beachy will
be
responsible for management, technical oversight, and design input on
the civil engineering components of GTS’ projects. He will
focus
on transportation services, encompassing highway and bridge planning
and design; traffic analyses; Highway Occupancy Permits; and related
services, including drainage, stormwater best management practices,
erosion and sediment control, site design, and utilities.
Mr. Beachy has 24
years of experience in civil and
transportation engineering and project management on Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers, and municipal projects throughout Pennsylvania
and adjacent states. He is a registered Professional Engineer in
Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, and New York and is a
certified Project Management Professional. Mr. Beachy holds a
Master’s degree in Engineering Management and a
Bachelor’s
degree in Civil Engineering. His professional affiliations include the
American Society of Highway Engineers, the American Society of Civil
Engineers, and the American Society for Engineering Management.
Mr.
Beachy’s engineering portfolio ranges from
small bridge replacement projects to major interstates and
interchanges. He has been involved in the planning and design of over
100 highway projects, more than 90 bridge rehabilitation/replacement
projects, and NBIS inspection of over 500 bridges. He possesses
extensive experience in traffic studies, permitting, pavement design,
and managing the rehabilitation or resurfacing of local streets. His
past projects include design/build, rail, airport, parking, and trail
assignments. Past responsibilities have encompassed project
management, cost estimating, preparation of specifications and contract
documents, contract administration, quality control, mitigation design,
site planning and design, earthwork and grading plans, right-of-way
plans, and business development.

BASOM NAMED PRESIDENT OF GTS TECHNOLOGIES

Basom,
P.E., has been named President and
Chairman of GTS
Technologies, Inc. (GTS) effective July 1, 2011, to succeed outgoing
President Wayne E. Himes. This planned leadership progression allows
the firm to maintain the high level of professional service, quality,
and responsiveness that has been a GTS trademark for over half a
century.
Mr. Basom has
more
than 23 years of engineering and management
experience and has been with GTS for over 12 years in leadership
positions, most recently as Vice President and Director of Geotechnical
Services. Brent’s professional credentials encompass full
financial, administrative, technical, marketing, and quality assurance
aspects of company operations.
His
background
includes experience in
the transportation, energy, dams, water resources, military, buildings,
utility, commercial, public works, industrial, and materials markets.
He is a civil engineering graduate of Drexel University and began his
engineering career with local firm Gannett Fleming, Inc. In addition to
his engineering consulting work, he has held positions on both
municipal and charitable boards.
He has
distinguished himself on numerous high-profile
management
assignments for the firm. His extensive project portfolio includes the
national award-winning Lewistown Narrows Project as well as
reconstruction of I-95 in Philadelphia for PennDOT, the Lehigh River
Bridge Project for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, complex
analyses and recommendations for major dredge disposal facilities for
the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, geotechnical and materials testing
for expansion of PPL’s Brunner Island power plant,
engineering for water and wastewater impoundments, seepage and
stability analysis for dams, and buildings and facilities integrity
inspections for private industry and the
Department of Defense.
Wayne Himes
has
been with GTS for nearly four decades, most recently
serving as GTS’ President and Chairman. Wayne will remain
with GTS on a part-time basis until the end of 2011, providing counsel
and assistance to Mr. Basom and the Board of Directors. He will also
have a hand in continuing to shape the company’s future
direction through his active participation on the Board of Directors.
Also, Craig
T.
Welfer, P.E., has been promoted to Director of
Geotechnical Services succeeding Mr. Basom. Craig had been Assistant
Director of the department. He possesses 18 years of geotechnical
engineering and management experience.

PARKER JOINS GTS TECHNOLOGIES

Andrew C. (Andy) Parker has been named Director of Environmental
Services at GTS Technologies, a 50 year old mid-atlantic engineering,
planning and environmental consulting organization headquartered
in Harrisburg, PA with branch offices in Exton and Hazleton, PA.
Mr. Parker will be responsible for managing and providing
technical input for the full range of GTS’s environmental
consulting services.
Clients range
from federal, state and local
government agencies and the military, to private industry.
Environmental services geared to transportation planning, design and
construction will be a focus.
Mr. Parker
has 23 years of
significant experience in environmental management, permitting and
consulting throughout the mid-atlantic region. He has
authored articles on ecological and stream restoration focused on
the application of natural and sustainable design techniques and is
trained in bioengineering methods.
He is Rosgen
Level
IV certified and proficient in fluvial geomorphology, a Certified
Ecologist, a Certified Wetland Delineator
by the Army Corps of Engineers, certified in Habitat Evaluation by the
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,
certified in Erosion and Sedimentation Control, and a
Certified Forest Conservation Professional. Mr.
